Village Emporium Quiz Quilt

The group made this quilt as a quiz prize in response to a request from The Village Emporium magazine that circulates in Daventry and the surrounding district on a bi-monthly basis. They printed a very comprehensive two page article about Danetre Quilters in the September/October 2015 edition and this was our way of showing our appreciation.

Our 30th Anniversary Cake

To celebrate our 30th Anniversary at the 22nd September meeting, we were delighted to receive a delicious fruit cake baked and expertly decorated by longstanding member Zena Green - many thanks Zena everyone enjoyed the cake and the evening very much.

About Us

We meet twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays excluding August. 7.30-9.30 pm at the Daventry Town Football Club, in Browns Road, Daventry and currently have 30 members. Our meetings are very varied with guest speakers, learning worktables, members offering to teach new skills, sit and sews, a Christmas Social, an Annual Summer Dinner, a yearly challenge and opportunities for members work to be included in exhibitions at both the Bramble Patch and at the Flore Flower Festival. Our members have a wide range of experience and a willingness to share their expertise and both traditional and contemporary work is encouraged. There are opportunities to bring a sewing machine as well as hand sewing and members are free to bring their own projects at sit and sew evenings. Membership costs £20 per year plus a charge of £1.50 for ordinary meetings, speaker meetings are £3 for members and £5 for visitors. Prospective new members are welcome to come and join us for three meetings at a charge of £3 per meeting before being expected to join. 2015 saw us celebrating our 30th Anniversary.We welcome anyone interested in joining us at any time of the year. The Football Club has made us very welcome since our move in January 2017 and there is ample, well lit parking with CCTV.

Our Meetings

Feb 14th - Principles of layering a quilt with Carole Pleace. Margaret Challice will bring in flowers to show members what will be made on March 14th
Feb 28th - Stage 3 of the Mystery Quilt. A chance to make Christmas decorations for the 2017 FoQs tombola. Sit and Sew
March 14th - Making fabric flowers with Margaret Challice, Sewing machines will be needed this evening
March 28th - Stage 4 of the Mystery Quilt, Show and Tell, Raffle, Quiz
April 11th - Speaker Sarah Showers, "A Fabric Addiction". A talk with images of her fascination with fabric and her beautiful work

You only need to know how to thread a needle to join in! Not that you will be given formal teaching, but people will willingly help and for the real novice we have some exercises for you to learn how to do some simple piecing and quilting. Otherwise come along, bring some of your work and find out more. If you would like to talk to someone beforehand or be met at the door, ring any of the three identified here so that you will feel more comfortable.
